United Way of McMinn & Meigs Co. Partner Agencies

     The funds raised by United Way and allocated to Partner Agencies are used to strengthen families, assure readiness for school and work, and to improve community health. United Way of McMinn and Meigs Counties continues its tradition of keeping operating costs below the national average, so more than 90% of the funds raised go to the agencies.

	Athens-McMinn Family YMCA P.O. Box 376 Athens, TN 37371-0376; (423) 745-4904. Provides programs that promote good health, strong families, and youth programs (including day care) based on Christian principles. Open to all regardless of the ability to pay.
	Behavioral Research Institute P.O. Box 2965 Cleveland, TN 37320-2965; (423) 479-1590. Provides psychological assessment and treatment services to victims of child abuse and neglect in McMinn County; also provides parenting workshops and prevention counseling.
	Boehm Birth Defects Center 910 Blackford Street Chattanooga, TN 37403; (423) 778-2222 Boehm Birth Defects Center works to promote, maintain and enhance the comprehensive care of individuals born with neural tube defects. Primarily includes: neural tube defects (spina bifida), germinal matrix-intraventricular hemorrhages, congenital hydrocephalus, and associated cerebral palsy.
	Boy Scouts of America-Great Smoky Mountain Council P.O. Box 51885 Knoxville, TN 37950-1885; (865) 588-6514. The program is centered around moral and ethical values of God and country teaching youth through Cub packs, Boy Scout troops and Explorer Posts which are run by volunteers.
	CONTACT P.O. Box 69 Athens, TN 37371-0069; (423) 745-9111. A 24 hour hotline offering free, confidential, non-judgmental listening services to anyone in need. Services include crisis intervention, information and referral, and reassurance calls to the elderly. Extensive training available for all volunteers.
	Coordinated Charities P.O. Box 1023 Athens, TN 37371-1023; (423) 745-9625. Provides limited assistance to individual and families in need of food, shelter, medicine and energy assistance. Offers low cost clothing, appliances, furniture and housewares at its thrift shop.
	Englewood Goodwill Workers P.O. Box 333 Englewood, TN 37329; (423) 887-5278. The charitable services offered include food, shelter, medicine, and utility assistance to residents in and around Englewood.
	Etowah Rescue Squad 1018 Tennessee Avenue Etowah, TN 37331; (423) 263-9312. Professional emergency fire prevention and suppression, basic and specialized rescue and safety education for eastern McMinn County on a volunteer basis.
	Partnership for Families, Children & Adults 300 East 8th Street Chattanooga, TN 37403; (423)755-2822. Provides a broad range of family and/or individual counseling and related support services to residents of McMinn County. Programs and services currently being offered to residents include: credit counseling, homemaker services, interpreter for the deaf and residential care.
	Good Faith Clinic Athens, TN 37302; (423)462-1413. Meets primary health care needs of the uninsured through physician evaluations, consultations, diagnostic efforts, necessary medical testing, and medication. Call for information on clinic dates and sites.
	Hiwassee Mental Health Center 1805 Ingleside Ave., P.O. Box 685 Athens, TN 37371-0685; (423)745-8802. Offers comprehensive mental health services to adults, children and families. Services include individual, group and family counseling. Alcohol and drug services include assessment, prevention and residential services. Home based services are provided to McMinn County residents for children and adults.
	The H.O.P.E. Center P.O. Box 1561 Athens, TN 37371-1561; (423) 745-5289. Provides shelter and support services for victims of partner abuse. Advocacy and community education services/programs are also available and are designed to prevent abuse.
	McMinn County Rescue Squad P.O. Box 214 Athens, TN 37371-0214; (423) 745-6666. Volunteers provide fire fighting, search and rescue and training services to residents of McMinn County.
	McMinn County Department of Juvenile Services 5 S. Hill Street Suite D Athens, TN 37303; (423) 745-8782. Guidance of a preventative and rehabilitative nature for youth and parents. Services include: family assistance consultations, referral services, para-legal advice, preventative programs, school based services and community awareness. Community service work program for juvenile offenders.
	Moccasin Bend Girl Scout Council P.O. Box 15969 Chattanooga, TN 37415; 1-800-446-2472 or (423) 877-2688. Guided by adult volunteers, girls ages 5-17, develop competency in social, emotional and leadership skills. Girl Scouting encourages reaching one's potential and community service.
	Nancy's House P.O. Box 5086 Cleveland, TN 37320-5086; (423) 559-8592. Provide's services to an HIV-positive individual residing in Bradley, McMinn or Polk counties.
	Senior Citizens Center of McMinn County 205 McMinn Ave., P.O. Box 41 Athens, TN 37371-0041; (423) 745-6830. Services and programs for senior citizens. Portable meals for the homebound, counseling, education, employment and volunteer service opportunities. Physical fitness, senior games, recreation, arts and crafts, fellowship programs for individuals ages 55 and over. Information and referrals also provided.
	Signal Center/United Cerebral Palsey Agency P.O. Box 588 Athens, TN 37371-0588; (423) 745-4673. Comprehensive early intervention and special education program for children ages birth to six years with developmental delays or physical handicaps.
	Tri-County Center P.O. Box 793 Athens, TN 37371-0793; (423) 745-8902. Comprehensive services from evaluations to education for disabled adults. Programs include transportation, education, vocational training, supported employment and residential services.
