No matter your race, religion or ethnic background, the United Way of McMinn and Meigs Counties has helped you or someone you know. Whether it's a female friend who was being battered at home and sought comfort at the HOPE Center; or a teenage son who called CONTACT because he felt threatened at school and needed advice; or a grandmother or grandfather who learned how to line dance a the Senior Center. Or, maybe you've shopped at the Coordinated Charities Thrift Shop, or you've been on the other end of the spectrum and needed food or help with your utility bill from Coordinated Charities. Maybe you know a child with disabilities that has benefited from the help provided at the Signal Center; or maybe you know an adult with disabilities who was able to work because of the programs Tri-County Center provides. Do you know a boy scout or a girl scout? Or maybe you or someone you know has visited the Athens-McMinn Family YMCA. This is just a short list. All 21 agencies are listed here and the best way to keep these agencies operating is through donations to the United Way. Every dollar counts!

Public Awareness: Public awareness is crucial to solving problems in our community. If people do not know a problem exists, how can they possibly be expected to care about it or try to find a solution? The United Way of McMinn & Meigs Counties is making every effort to nurture the public’s understanding of human service opportunities so that problems are recognized, solutions are developed and needs are met.
