United Way of McMinn & Meigs Counties

Partner Agencies

     The funds raised by United Way and allocated to Partner Agencies are used to strengthen families, assure readiness for school and work, and to improve community health. United Way of McMinn and Meigs Counties continues its tradition of keeping operating costs below the national average, so more than 90% of the funds raised go to the agencies.

Athens-McMinn Family YMCA

Provides programs that promote good health, strong families, and youth programs based on Christian principles which include day care, afterschool programs, summer camps and the Y-CAP program for at risk teens. Open to all regardless of the ability to pay.

Boys & Girls Club - Meigs Unit

Provides structured, proven out-of-school-time programming and a place to be when school is out, but also equips them with the tools and mindset to thrive.

Coordinated Charities

Provides limited assistance to individual and families in need of food, shelter, medicine and energy assistance. Offers low cost clothing, appliances, furniture and housewares at its thrift shop.

Etowah Area Senior Citizen Center

Provide nutrition to citizens in house and meals on wheels.  To provide education and a safe haven.

Etowah Rescue Squad

Professional emergency fire prevention and suppression, basic and specialized rescue and safety education for eastern McMinn County on a volunteer basis.

Good Faith Clinic

Meets primary health care needs of the uninsured through physician evaluations, consultations, diagnostic efforts, necessary medical testing, and medication. Call for information on clinic dates and sites.

Helping Hands Ministries

Helping Hands Ministy offers assistance to homeowners who are unable to help themselves with small home repairs so they can remain safely in their home.

Hiwassee Mental Health Center

Offers comprehensive mental health services to adults, children and families. Services include individual, group and family counseling. Alcohol and drug services include assessment, prevention and residential services. Home based services are provided to McMinn County residents for children and adults.

The H.O.P.E. Center

Provides shelter and support services for victims of partner abuse. Advocacy and community education services/programs are also available and are designed to prevent abuse.

McMinn County Educational & Community Foundation

MCEF organizes, manages, funds, and/or participates in educational programs: Imagination Library, Eighth Grade Career Day, Youth Leadership, Teacher Mini-Grants, Stuff the Bus, and Adult Education.

McMinn County Rescue Squad

Volunteers provide fire fighting, search and rescue and training services to residents of McMinn County.

McMinn County Department of Juvenile Services

Guidance of a preventative and rehabilitative nature for youth and parents. Services include: family assistance consultations, referral services, para-legal advice, preventative programs, school based services and community awareness. Community service work program for juvenile offenders.

Senior Citizens Center of McMinn County

Services and programs for senior citizens. Portable meals for the homebound, counseling, education, tax assistance, employment and volunteer service opportunities. Physical fitness, senior games, recreation, arts and crafts, fellowship programs for individuals ages 55 and over.

Comprehensive services from evaluations to education for adults with intellectual disabilities. Programs include transportation, education, vocational training, supported employment and residential services.
